About Ikebukuro West Gate Park
Ikebukuro West Gate Park is the west-exit square, 3,123 m², rebuilt in November 2019 as GLOBAL RING. It sits on the old Tokyo Prefectural Toshima Normal School site, next to Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre. The outdoor theatre runs concerts and free programmes. Fountain, vision screen, and ring lights run on a cycle through the day. Fukuro Matsuri (mikoshi in late September, Yosakoi in October) uses this plaza. Locals wait here. Tourists photograph the rings at night. Hours: 05:00–01:00, toilets to midnight. Event bookings go through Toshima Mirai Cultural Foundation (03-6912-5211). Ordinary park use is the ward parks desk (03-3981-0534). Do not mix this with Nishi-Ikebukuro Park, the playground west of Rikkyo.
