About This Event / イベントについて
The Oeshiki at Zoshigaya Kishomojindo is a traditional Edo-period festival designated as a Toshima Intangible Folk Cultural Property. Participants carry mantō — 3-4m tall lanterns adorned with white washi paper flowers — through the streets, accompanied by the rhythmic beating of uchiwa-daiko (fan drums).
The October 18 parade starts from Ikebukuro Station East Exit at 19:00, making its way to the temple. The sight of the tall white lanterns swaying through the dark streets is unforgettable. Free to watch — a magical autumn evening event.
雑司ヶ谷鬼子母神堂の御会式は、豊島区無形民俗文化財に指定された江戸時代から続く伝統行事。万灯（白い和紙の花を付けた高さ3-4mの灯篭）を掲げ、団扇太鼓を叩きながら練り歩きます。
10月18日のパレードは19:00に池袋駅東口を出発し、寺院へ向かいます。暗い街を揺れながら進む背の高い白い灯篭の列は忘れられない光景。観覧無料。秋の夜を彩る幻想的なイベントです。
