Ikebukuro is a terminal with two exits that do not share a weekend. On 7 and 8 November 2026 the east side runs Animate Girls Festival at Sunshine City. The west side runs the second Ikebukuro West Gourmet Park in West Gate Park. Tobu’s rooftop Christmas Market also opens that Saturday, above the west-exit department store. They are three official programmes. None of them is a shuttle to the others.
PLACE.md puts tourists on the east first: Sunshine, Otome Road, Animate. Locals after work go west: the park, the izakaya, Tobu. That map is the weekend. If you treat “Ikebukuro events 7 November” as one queue, you will stand in the wrong one.
East: AGF is a ticket, not a street
AGF’s main venue at Sunshine City is 9:00 to 17:00 both days. You need a ticket. The halls do not sell them. Fast is ¥3,000 and 9:00–10:00. General is ¥1,800 and 10:00–13:00. Afternoon is ¥1,000 and 13:00–15:00. Evening is paper from 7-Eleven, ¥800 until 7 November 00:00, then ¥1,000, 15:00–16:00. Fast, general, and afternoon are electronic with face authentication, one per person per day. Evening skips face auth, three per purchase, and is out of official resale. Last new entry 16:30. Last area entry 16:50. Theme this year is Decoration. Ajinomoto AGF is special sponsor again.
Otome Road and Animate Ikebukuro sit between the east exit and Sunshine. Flags, Gratte, and street programmes are part of AGF’s city layer. They are not a substitute for a main-venue ticket. Cosplay rules follow AGF’s own page, not Ike-Haro’s. Ike-Haro is already over by then; it ends 1 November.
If you only want the street layer, you can stay on Otome Road without a hall ticket. If you want booths, you cannot. That distinction is the whole east-side problem this weekend.
West: the park is free and it closes earlier on Sunday
West Gourmet Park is in GLOBAL RING, 1-8-26 Nishi-Ikebukuro, two minutes from the west exit. Saturday 11:00–20:00. Sunday 11:00–19:00. Entry free, no reservation. About 50 Ikebukuro kitchens. You pay at the stall. Official prices run from ¥150 chicken shumai to ¥1,200 sukiyaki. Rain goes. Storm cancels. There is no indoor hall if the wind comes up. Stage names on the official site include Tokyo Yosakoi, Ehara Masahiro, FIELD OF VIEW.
This is the same park as Fukuro Matsuri, which ended 11 October, and as Folk Performing Arts in Toshima on 24 October. It is not play equipment. It is a civic bowl next to Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre. Locals already use it as a meeting point. Fifty stalls will fill it. Eat first if you also want AGF. Crossing the station with a full stomach is slower than it looks on a map.
The roof above Tobu is a third clock
Tobu’s Christmas Market is not in the park and not at Sunshine. It is the 8F Sky Deck of Tobu Ikebukuro, 1-1-25 Nishi-Ikebukuro. Official dates are 7 November to 25 December, 11:00–21:00. That is not 3–25 December. Six a la carte booths, no reservation. BBQ from ¥3,500, 120 minutes, reserved. Wind warnings can close the roof. Marunouchi exit 19 is one minute. JR west exit is two.
Opening Saturday therefore stacks: AGF doors from 9:00 on the east, gourmet park from 11:00 in the west park, Tobu roof from 11:00 above the department store. You can do park then roof without changing exits. You cannot do AGF and the park without the station. Budget the walk and the 16:30 AGF cutoff before you add BBQ.
How to pick a side
Main-venue AGF is for people who already hold a ticket and can stand in a face-auth line. Evening paper tickets are the only AGF product that behaves like a late walk-up, and even those sell on Animate Ticket, not at the door. The west park is for people who want Ikebukuro kitchens without a barcode. Tobu is for people who want a table and a tree on the west roof, including after the park shuts on Sunday at 19:00.
Sunshine City that weekend is not a neutral mall. Hall traffic, Otome Road, and east-exit corridors will be AGF. If you need an aquarium or Tenbou Park that Saturday, go early or pick another day. BLACK LAGOON in Tenbou does not open until 13 November. Tokimeki Sky Date is already over by 8 November at 21:00.
